Respond to Green Fields of France.

  1. Happy valentines day :)

This song is a lot like “All Quiet on the Western Front”. With it's theme of death, and people dying young in the war. It's so sad to think that all you can hope is that your friend died quickly and without a lot of pain, and that the death was treated honorably.

  2. I really like this song. The meaning behind it is really powerful. The lyrics have a bunch of meaning too, it made it's purpose clear. Or something long those lines.

  3. Green Fields of France was a very strong and emotional song, and it almost made me cry. I feel very bad for the young man that died in 1916. It sounds a lot like Paul from the movie, because he was about 19 when he was killed in the war. It's very sad that people give their lives for their country when they have so much in store for them.

  4. This song is quite sad. It's horrible that so many young lives were lost in such a bloody and violent way. Many of the people that died were only around 19 years old. The poor poor young men that were "tricked" into service because they thought that they would have glory when they came back from the war. They couldn't know how bad and bloody the war was. Probably most of the people who died were not given a proper burial. If they fell behind lines then they were put in a casket, if even that. If they fell out on the field then they were just left there. Most of the people who died probably didn't have quick, clean deaths. They probably died rather agonizing deaths although it all depends on how they were injured or killed. If it was a grenade then they probably died quickly, but if they were stabbed then they would have died slowly. Most of them didn't get proper send offs and therefore I feel badly for them. They died for their country and yet they were not appreciated very much.

  5. The song “Green Fields of France” is depressing. It really makes you think about how scary it must be, and how brave the soldiers who were fighting in the wars were. I couldn't sign up for that sort of thing, knowing that there was such a great chance that I wouldn't make it back. Or knowing that my friends probably wouldn't make it back either. I don't know if I could stand watching all of those horrible things happen, and I don't know how any of them could either. Having the only thing you could hope for being that they at least died quickly... It must have been horrible for them.
